Oldest student honoured
Col Syed Dawar Hussain Bukhari
studied in the institution
during the year 1938. He left the college during 1942 and joined the Dara Dune Academy for military training. He is the veteran of 2nd world
war. Afterwards he joined the Pakistan Army on creation of Pakistan. He
always played a vital role in the life of the Association. His services
cannot be forgotten. 8th Dec 2007 was his day.

The
journey of Government College University, Faisalabad
started in 1897. A Municipal Middle School was founded
in the building of present Government College for Women
Karkhana Bazaar, Faisalabad. In September 1905, it was
upgraded to the level of the High School. The Provincial
Government took-over the management of the institution
and in 1915 it was shifted to the present building. In
May 1924, it attained the status of Intermediate College
and on 8th Dec 1933 it was upgraded to Degree Level. In
1963, Post-graduate disciplines were introduced.
Government of the Punjab declared the college, as an autonomous institution on 1st
July 1990.
It was given the status of
University on 23rd of October 2002, by Lt. General (R)
Khalid Maqbool, the Governor of Punjab, an old
